“It’s our obligation to help our people,” said Gov. Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas underscoring the importance of communication and working together for the implementation of various health programs in the province during the workshop on Local Investment Plan for Health 2023-2025 organized by the Provincial Health Office (PHO). The workshop was held May 25-27 in Caba, La Union where health program officers from the PHO together with the municipal health officers (MHOs), chiefs of hospitals and their respective planning officers discussed different health sector goals of better outcomes and more responsive health system.

 Further, the participants were briefed on the Universal Health Care Act, DOH Devolution Transition Plan, and the Guidelines on the development of LIPH 2023-2025. The LIPH 2023-2025 is a three-year plan which will be the foundation of health programs and activities to be implemented in the province of Benguet. LIPH development primarily aims to achieve health sector goals of better health outcomes, financial risk protection, and a responsive health system toward a healthier Benguet. Dr. Mercedes Calpito, DMO V of PDOHO-Benguet, facilitated the workshop together with Josephine Fawayan, DMO IV, and Melanie June Pucay, DMO IV. Meanwhile, Gov. Diclas laid out some of his plans for health such as the establishment of Dialysis Centers in all the towns and District Hospitals. He also expressed appreciation to all the participants for their valuable efforts and contributions in pursuit of effectively formulating and implementing policies, plans, programs, and projects for the improvement of the quality of life in the province. A future workshop is scheduled to finalize the investment plans of the Rural Health Units, District Hospitals, and the PHO.
