3 MEN WHO RETURNED TO THE FOLD OF LAW RECEIVE CASH AID
Three men who left their armed struggle and went back to the government fold received cash assistance from the government, which they will use to start a livelihood as they renew their lives with their family. Two of them are from Kalinga while the other one is from Cavite. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas through his executive assistant David Cabuten extended his gratitude to the three men for deciding to return to their families and live peacefully.He also thanked the Philippine National Police (PNP), DILG Benguet, Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO), and other partner agencies for working closely with the local government in implementing programs against insurgency. Meanwhile, the three expressed their gratitude for the assistance they received from the government. “Jay inad-adal mi ijay uneg nga jay ibagbaga da nga bulok nga sistema, haan gayam nga agpayso ta makitkita tayo dagiti [programa] nga ipatpatungpal ti gobyerno,” stated one of them. The turn-over of the financial assistance was led by the Provincial LGU; General Krishnamurti Mortela, 702nd Brigade commander; DILG Benguet led by outgoing Provincial Director (PD) Rufina Fegcan and incoming PD Regina Elizabeth Mammag; Benguet PPO headed by PD Reynaldo DR Pasiwen represented by PLTCol Cleff Vencio and PLTCol Dominga Terrado; and PSWDO.
IMPLEMENTATION OF “VEST ORDINANCE” SUSPENDED | Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas issued an order suspending the implementation of Ordinance No. 2022-302, an ordinance issued by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan requiring all drivers and riders motorcycle, tricycle, e-bike, and bicycle to wear high visibility vest while travelling along the national highway and in all provincial, municipal, and barangay roads within the province of Benguet, pending its amendments.
