Former Rebels Receive Financial Aid

As part of his campaign to end local communist armed conflict, Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas provided financial assistance to three former rebels who have recently returned to the folds of the law.
 
This is on top of the cash aid the three will be receiving from the government under the enhanced comprehensive local integration program.

A simple turn-over of the former rebels’ firearms to the authorities was also held Wednesday at the provincial governor’s office with PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN Ronald Oliver Lee and Benguet PPO Provincial Director PCOL Reynaldo DR Pasiwen.
 
Gov. Diclas thanked the Philippine National Police for their continued effort for the efficient and effective implementation of the whole-of-nation approach against insurgency.

Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for CoVID-19 meeting chaired by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas. Benguet remains under Alert Level 3 until the 15th of February with the high number of CoVID-19 cases recorded in January. On the other hand, based on the report of the Provincial Health Office, daily CoVID-19 cases in the province are now on a downtrend from an average of 250-300 in the past two weeks to more than a hundred in the past days.

The Provincial Government of Benguet continues to remind the public to keep observing health protocols to help contain the spread of the virus. CoVID-19 vaccination is also highly encouraged to prevent severe complications from CoVID-19. According to PHO, almost 98% of the CoVID-19 patients in Benguet who died are unvaccinated.

Episode 11: Improvement of Bagsakan Area at Benguet Cold Chain

#HEALTHIERBenguet | There is an ongoing P2.7 million improvement project at the bagsakan area of the Benguet cold chain in Wangal, La Trinidad funded by the Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas as part of the proposed establishment of a vegetable processing facility at the said location. Another infrastructure development at the Benguet cold chain is expected to start this year with an allocated budget of P3.5 million.

This is a joint project of the Provincial Government of Benguet and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) entitled Upgrading of the Capability of Existing Distribution Centers in the Delivery of Fresh and Semi-Processed Agricultural Products in the Supply Chain: Focusing on Packaging Technology and Logistics. Once the projects are completed, the DOST will provide different equipment and facilities to be installed and be used for the operation of the vegetable processing facility. The facility is seen to help add value to the vegetables being produced by farmers. It can also serve as a learning area for interested farmers who are willing to learn other ways to produce high value products out of their harvests.

Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas and Congressman Eric Go Yap grace the celebration of the 32nd founding anniversary of Benguet National High School (BeNHS) in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet on January 28, 2022.

Governor Diclas and Congressman Yap assured the school and the entire schools division office of their continued support to the advancement of education in the province amid the hurdles brought by the CoVID-19 pandemic.

Inspection of the irrigation system project in barangay Ansagan funded by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) with a counterpart from the Provincial Government of Benguet. The said irrigation system is supplying water to some 15 households and a farmland of over 200 farmers in sitios Cobicob and Balocot. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said the PLGU released funds worth P1.8 million in addition to some P3.8 million from NIA, the agency that implemented the said project. 

He also thanked the previous administration for supporting the collaboration with NIA for the successful implementation of the project which is beneficial to the residents especially farmers. Locals here used to walk several kilometers to fetch water from a source. They are thankful for the government as the project is helping them boost their farm productivity.

Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas leads the simple turn-over ceremony for the recently completed Barangay Health Station project in Eddet, Kabayan funded and implemented by the Provincial Government of Benguet in the amount of P1.1M. Also present during the turn-over program were Kabayan LGU officials headed by Mayor Basilio Louie Daoal Jr. and barangay officials of Eddet headed by Hon. Eric Postino.On the same day, two other Provincial LGU-funded projects were also turned over to the barangay LGU of Eddet namely construction of Daket-Oguban foot bridge and reconstruction of Datuan footbridge.
