The Yupoan-Penas farm-to-market road in Bakun, Benguet recently opened by the Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Gov. Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas is now serving a community of about 600 families in barangay Dalipey. Gov. Diclas said the road is 1.360-kilometer long which connects a wide farming area and a sitio in Dalipey to the national road in the central area of the barangay. The P1.5-million project was implemented in response to the request of the residents who are mostly vegetable producers. It is seen not only to help farmers but also other residents travelling to the said locality.

Lolito Bacasen, a farmer and a resident of Dalipey, said they used to carry their harvests from their farms all the way down to the main road through a 2-kilometer narrow path way which had been taking most of their time. He said it would usually take them two days to fill a truck with their produce to be delivered to the nearest market. “Ngem tatta nga addan daytoy kalsada, mabiiten ti panagtransport mi ti nateng,” said Bacasen. He added they are now able to deliver a truck of vegetables in a single day. The main agricultural products being produced in Dalipey include cabbage, potatoes, wombok, and beans. Meanwhile, farmers in Dalipey thanked Gov. Diclas for addressing their concerns with the allotment of funds for the said road opening. On the other hand, as road development projects are among the priorities of Gov. Diclas under his HEALTHIER Benguet agenda, the governor hopes to bring more road access and road improvement in the municipality to boost local economy. #HEALTHIERBenguet#UnitedBenguet
