‘CRITICAL’ ROAD IN KAPANGAN REHABILITATED

'CRITICAL' ROAD IN KAPANGAN REHABILITATED

KAPANGAN, BENGUET — A portion of the Lomon-Sagubo Provincial Road had been a major concern for locals here especially farmers coming from Gadang and Sagubo as it had been posing significant risks to them.

Earlier, the Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas earmarked funds for a rehabilitation project at the said road in response to the needs of the community.

The project has recently been completed and was inspected by the Provincial Project Monitoring Committee and the Provincial Engineering Office.

Sagubo Chairperson Danny Eke described the road section ‘critical’, adding erosion would happen anytime if it had not been constructed with mitigating measures.

The project included widening, construction of slope protection, and road pavement.

Medinia Pisando, farmer, expressed her appreciation for the implementation of the project as vehicles will no longer struggle through the then slide-prone and narrow-and-bumpy road.

Pisando said the project will benefit not only farmers but also students coming from Gadang, and Tiw-angan and Suyo, La Union.

They are the 5th batch of grantees for the said program.

The SNPL program of the LGU allows medical students to study without having to worry much about their educational expenses. The grantees will pay in installments once they start earning after finally becoming physicians.

Governor Diclas and Vice Governor Ericson Lawagey Felipe in their messages during the contract signing encouraged the grantees to remain dedicated in their aspiration to help build healthier Benguet communities.
